Gweny's First Day of Preschool

My little Gweny-bean went to preschool today. She was so excited when I dropped her off. Her teacher came outside to get her and she skipped inside without even glancing back at me. On the drive home, I tried not to cry and I thought about how good this will be for her, but it started pouring rain and the gloom overcame me. I cried for missing my little Gweny.

She, of course, had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back.

Grandma Adams

Josh's Grandma Gwen Adams passed away yesterday morning. She is very special to us for many reasons. Our own Gweny was born on her birthday and was named after her. Today we celebrate her life and are grateful that she is re-united with her husband, whom she has missed for well over a decade.

Mikayla usually gets up a little earlier than the rest of us lazy hobos on Saturday mornings, so she knows to just find some cartoons and wait patiently until the rest of us wake up. This morning was no different and I came out to find her sitting on the couch chewing on a pencil. Yes, chewing on the once-sharpened end of the pencil. She had nibbled the lead down and was gnawing on the wood. I got after her and told her not to eat pencils because it could make her sick. She started crying and crying and crying and then Gweny came to see what the issue was and Mikayla burst out in a new round of sobs. I said, "Mikayla, WHAT is the matter?" and she yelled, "I DON'T WANT TO DIE IN FRONT OF GWENY!"
