Gweny and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Gwenyth is having a very bad day today. First, I got her up and put her straight into the bath. For some reason, the bottom of the tub was slippery-er than normal. She kept falling backwards and smacking the back of her head. She did it three times!! Then, we got her dressed and she started eating her Nutra-Grain bar for breakfast. She choked on it. It was just such a big bite. Then, we started walking to the doctor's office and she slipped out from under the strap in the stroller and I kind of ran over her a little bit. Then, at the doctor's office, she found out that she only weighs 19 pounds. She has be faced backwards in the car still. So, she is in the 2nd percentile for weight, but the 74th percentile for head circumference. She has a tiny body and a huge head. No wonder she falls down all the time. Anyway, she had to have 4 shots at the doctor's office. So we tried to calm her down with a sucker. We left the doctor's office and everything was calm until Gweny dropped her sucker in the dirt. So sad. Then, we came home and I sat down on the front porch to call my mom and Gweny wandered around our parking lot for a minute. She was just walking around and then she fell in a puddle. A big nasty puddle left over from the rain a few days ago. So, we brought her inside and cleaned her up and changed her dress and then Mikayla pushed her and yelled at her because she didn't want to share her M&Ms with Gwenyth. Poor Gweny is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. And it's only 11:45 in the morning.

Random Stuff About Me

Leeann and I are sitting here asking each other random questions, so we thought it would be fun if we blogged them and made a tag out of it. So, here it goes...

1. If you could choose to have two superpowers, what would they be and what would you do with them?

First of all, I would want to never have to sleep. I feel like I waste a lot of my time either sleeping or being tired. So, that would be first. And I would spend time at night, while everyone else is sleeping learning as much about the world as I could. I would read all night.

Second, I would want an amazing superpower where I would never have to shower, bathe or get myself ready. I would just be clean and my hair and make-up would look perfect all the time. So, then, I wouldn't have to waste time with that and I would never have to embarrassed when people come to the door.

2. If you could invent ANYTHING in the world, what would it be?

I would invent a machine that all moms would have to have. It would only work if you had nothing at all on your kitchen counters or on your fridge or anything, but after dinner, or a meal, you could close this big door that would seal your kitchen. Then, a dishwasher-like system would turn on and clean your floors, counters, sinks, everything in the kitchen. Just add detergent!!

3. If you could choose to be a mythical creature, what would you be and why? What would do?

I would choose to be a good vampire and I would go find Edward. Duh!! I'd have to kill Bella, I guess.

4. If you had the chance to talk to anyone who ever lived at any time and ask them one question, who would it be and what question would you ask?

I would ask the first woman who ever shaved her legs "WHY???" Then I would yell at her, "Now we all have to do it!!"

No, seriously, I think I would ask Sariah, Nephi's mother, what her first thought was when Lehi told her that they were leaving all of their riches and comforts to live in the wilderness. I wonder if she thought he was crazy.

5. What's your favorite curse word?
BLAST!!!

6. What is the last thing you yelled out loud?

7. Name three people who have made you smile today.

8. What is the biggest annoyance in your life right now?

9. What was the last song you listened to?

10. Are you allergic to anything?

11. How did you get one of your scars?

12. What is the closest purple thing to you right now?

So, now I tag Leeann, Arney, Jennifer, Katie and Jenny.

Build-a-Baby

Gweny is recently obsessed with Build-A-Bear clothes. She finds them and wants me to put them on her. We don't have that many outfits, but she found this little Santa outfit and she wore it all day and didn't want me to take it off of her. It was so funny.

And here is Mikayla showing you her foot...

And here is Mikayla being adorable...

Crocs and Ghost Trains

Gwenyth LOVES shoes. She loves them. She has been particularly fond of Mikayla's Crocs as of late. She carries them around or wears them all day. Sometimes, she even eats them. Gwenyth needed new pair of shoes for the summer anyway, so last night, we finally went and bought Gwenyth her very own pair. She cried when we took them off last night to put her jammies on and this morning, I could hear her babbling in her crib about them and then when I opened her door, the first thing she said was, "Zees" This is how she says, "shoes." It was so cute. She just loves them.

I went to put Gwenyth down for a nap yesterday and I came downstairs to this. A Winnie the Pooh train being driven by a red ghost, train conductors hat included. She is a funny, funny girl.

You Just Never Know...

One thing I never thought I would say...

"Mikayla, get your foot out of the raisins, please."

One thing I never thought I would hear...

"Hey, who put this booger in my shoe?!"

I guess you just never know. So, now it's your turn. Please share with me the strangest thing you have said or heard that you never thought you would.

Just Some Pictures

Mikayla has been spending a lot of time in the naughty corner lately. The person who coined the phrase "Terrible Twos" did so because they didn't have a three year-old yet.

Gweny is cute.

When Mom is Away....

Daddy lets the kids jump on the bed. Josh took these pictures while I was at work the other night. The girls just love to jump on Mikayla's springy toddler mattress. They are just so funny together. I love it when they laugh together. Mostly, they just fight a lot, but when they are friends, it makes my whole day!

Israel!!!

I had such a great time in Israel. If anyone ever has the chance to go, you should. It was an amazing experience. I loved every minutes of it. Here are the people I went with. This is Josh's family, his mom, his step-father, his brother, Roger and his wife, Molly, and Josh's step-sister Stacy and her husband, Joe. I had such a great time. Here are just a few pictures of the places we saw. The spacing is weird because its annoying me. Sorry.

The Old City Jerusalem

Here you can see the Dome of the Rock, which was built in the same place that King Solomon's temple and the second temple were built. I was standing on the Mount of Olives when I took these pictures.
Some Israeli Soldiers

They were everywhere and they all had huge machine guns.

Kendra

We ran into Kendra, our friend from our old Colorado Springs ward. It was totally random. She was actually one of Josh's old seminary students.

The City of David
We were able to take a tour of the City of David. It was amazing to be able to walk where Jesus actually walked. Hereis a road that remains by the Pool of Siloam, where we know that Jesus spent some time.

and here is a road that led from the pool up to the temple.

The Wailing Wall

The Garden Tomb

Some believe that the Garden Tomb was where Jesus' body was buried after he was crucified. It was a beautiful garden. Here you can see pictures of the trench where the stone would have been rolled and the actual place where his body would have been laid.

The Garden of Gethsemane

The Roman city Schitopolis

The Jordan River

Capurnaum and the house of Peter

The Sea of Galilee

The possible site of the Sermon on the Mount

Shushi, the Camel

MASADA

Masada was a very cool, but kind of creepy place. We started out by going in a cable car up to the top of this
Ok, so the story goes like this. In 70 AD the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Second Temple. The few Zealots who remained fled to Masada, a fortress built by King Herod on the top of a huge plateau. They lived in the fortress and held out for three years. This is a picture of the snake path. Obviously, anyone climbing it to attack the fortress would be an easy target, so instead the Roman camped out and built battering rams and other weapons. The dark brown circles are what remains of the Roman camps. When the Romans realized that their battering rams and their catapults would not reach the fortress, they began to build a ramp that lead up to the fortress. This is what remains of the ramp. When the Zealots in the fortress realized that they could not win against the Roman army, the men killed their wives and their children. They killed one another, until ten remained. They found ten pottery sheards with one name written on each. They believe that these were used to cast lots to see who would have to be last man standing, either to finish himself off, or to face the Roman army alone.

Me in the Dead Sea

This is the cave where the first of the Dead Sea Scrolls was found. They think this may be the location where David and Goliath fought.

The Archaeological Dig

On our last day in Israel, we went on a Archaeological Dig. It was really cool.

We started out by going down into this cave and we stared digging.

I think Dean found an ancient b-b-que pit. He unearthed lots and lots of animal bones. I just found a few pieces of broken pottery.

Then, we went up and sifted through our dirt buckets to make sure that we didn't miss anything.

We did. Here is a piece of broken pottery that we found while sifting through the dirt.

Then, they took us through a cave that they has yet to be excavated. We crawled through lots of small holes.

Stacy going through a hole.

Dean going through a hole

Stacy and I felt like we had gone miles underground through the cave, but when we finally emerged, this is how far we were from our starting point. It was funny. The Mediterranean Sea

It was really windy. My hair was out of control!
