Wow, only 41 posts in 2012. I'm an idle blog sloth. But I'm also not promising I'll post more often.
2012 was not an easy year for us, but we are hopeful and faithful that 2013 will be a year of progress, joy, and the glorious breathing in and out of every single moment with our little kids.
At this time in my life, making long lists of seemingly unattainable goals feels overwhelming and senseless. It's enough for me to get up in the morning, take care of my family, and go to bed at night with all limbs and hearts intact. Right now, it's enough.
But, if you were to ask me what personal changes or improvements I wish to make this year, I would answer with these:
1. Yell less...praise more
2. Understand and abide within my own limitations:
"My dear sisters, do not pray for tasks equal to your abilities, but
pray for abilities equal to your tasks. Then the performance of your
tasks will be no miracle, but you will be the miracle."
--President Thomas S. Monson
(Jodi, you probably thought you were posting that quote on your blog for everyone to read. But really, you posted it for me. Thank you for listening to whatever it was that told you to post it. I needed it!)
3. Feel and show more emotion and vulnerabilities. I am slowly learning that the ability to consider our own emotions is, perhaps, what allows us to recognize them in others.
4. Show more appreciation and love to those who know my weaknesses, but love me anyway.
5. Spend more time cherishing the moments, instead of dreading the messes...count the blessings, instead of the blocks.
2013, you sneaked up on me. Alas, let's get to it!

Ah, my dear sister . . . I love you! Thanks for sharing these very personal thoughts. I love that quote and what you said about "counting the blessings, not the blocks." Such wise counsel from my little sister. I love you so much. Thanks for being both my sister AND my friend.
Yet again, your blog made me cry. 2013 is going to be so much better than 2012, I can feel it. And you are such an inspiration to me! Love you.
