CHEEEEEESE!!!

AAAHHHH!!! RUN!!! HIDE!! It's Time To Vacuum!

Mikayla and Gweny usually aren't very cuddly with one another. That all changes when I get the vacuum out. Mikayla climbs up on the couch. Gweny scrambles up and clings to Mikayla. Gweny knows that Mikayla will save her from the evil vacuum, though she cries and cries and holds onto Mikayla for dear life. And Mikayla is all too willing to be the life-saver.

She even trusts Mikayla enough to flash a quick cheesy grin at the camera.

Mikayla's Bad Hair Day

We put Mikayla's hair in a worm bun the other day. We took it out that night and here was the result. Crazy, crazy hair...
Then, Gweny wanted to take a picture in the same pose as Mikayla. So, here is Gweny's awesome hair too.

Finally, I Have an Excuse

I saw this poem on someone else's blog and I'd love to thank the author for giving me an excuse for my messy house. Thanks!!

"Cleaning and scrubbing
can wait for tomorrow,
For babies grow up,
I've learned, to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs.
Dust, go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby,
and babies don't keep."- Author Unknown

My Incredible Husband

Its bragging time for me. Josh is such an amazing man. His concerts to raise money for the people in Darfur were a HUGE success. So huge, in fact, that below, you will find links to him on a few different news programs. He is such an inspiration to me and to so many others.

Josh, I love you. I'm so proud of you for doing this. You have not only provided an amazing home for our children and me, but you have also managed, somehow, to provide this home for a destitute family in Darfur. I love you so much. Thank you for being such a wonderful man.

This first one is a link to Good Day Utah, on Fox 13. They did 9 segments on the concert. The videos on the side bar show the concert. If you want to see Josh's interview, go to the last video on the side bar.

This next one was on the Channel 2 News at Nine. It's amazing. You'll have to scroll until you find the title: Teens Hold Dance Show To Raise Money for Darfur. I can't figure out how to find the direct link or how to download the video. If anyone knows how, let me know.

Mikayla the Great

Mikayla is a great sleeper. She usually goes to bed without a fight and sleeps through the night in her own bed. So when she does cry, I know that something is wrong. A few nights ago, she started screaming in the middle of the night. I met her in the hall where her screams continued to wake up the entire household. I knelt down next to her and as she wrapped her arms around me, I asked, "Mikayla, what's wrong?" I had a hard time understanding through the crying, but I finally understood, "Mommy, you forgot to give me breakfast." I stifled a laugh and said, "Its the middle of the night. It isn't time for breakfast yet." She immediately stopped crying and got back in bed and went back to sleep.

Yesterday, I was unpacking yet another box and I had some bubble wrap that Mikayla quickly took to her room. She came out a few minutes later like this. Those are my glasses. Funny girl.

By the way - This is not a bag over her head. I realize that that what it looks like, but its open on the sides. I promise. Please don't call Child Protective Services on me.

**Sigh** "No, Mom"

Mikayla has discovered something very disturbing. At her very young four years of age, Mikayla thinks that she is truly and undoubtedly smarter than her mother. Here are a few examples.

- We went to the Body Worlds Exhibit in downtown Salt Lake on Saturday. Its a museum type exhibit that shows the muscular and cardiovascular systems of the body. The first room we walked into showed a heart. Mikayla was really interested. The conversation went like this.
Me: Mikayla, that is what your heart looks like.
Mikayla: (Loud and exaggerated SIGH) "No Mom"
Me: Yes, Mikayla.
Mikayla: No mom, my heart has two bumps on top and a point at the bottom.
Me: No, Mikayla, your heart looks like that.
Mikayla: No, mom. Maybe that's what my tummy heart looks like, but not my real heart.
Me: You only have one heart.
Mikayla: (Another Sigh) No mom. You are wrong.

- I'm trying to teach Mikayla her letters and numbers so we do a little "pre-school" session every day. We were working on the letter A.
Me: A is for Apple
Mikayla: and shoe
Me: S is for Shoe
Mikayla: No mom
Me: Yes Mikayla. A is Apple and S is for Shoe
Mikayla: and cake
Me: C is for cake.
Mikayla: (with the long, over-the-top sigh) No mom. You are wrong.

-Then we were riding in the car the other day. We were waiting at a stop light and I glanced back at the kids, who were sitting still and being unusually quiet. Mikayla looked at me and very dramatically rolled her eyes and let out a long, loud sigh and said, "Mommy, you are lost." I said, "No, we're almost home" and she said, "No mom, you're lost. You're wrong."

I thought that parents were smart until kids were teenagers. I thought I had a few years before I lost all signs of intelligence. I guess I'm wrong. Again...
