Update on My Mom

Sorry Jennifer, I just copied and pasted this from your blog. I hope you don't mind...

Dear Ones:
Mom is still in the ICU, but she is doing better. Yesterday, they told my dad that she would need to have the breathing tube removed in order to avoid damage to her vocal chords, or have a tracheotomy. So, they did another breathing test and she went for 3 hours this time with diminished support from the ventilator. Her chest x-ray looked slightly better and after some good results on the breathing test, they removed the tube. She is now in a large face mask breathing device that pushes air in for her. But she is awake! And communicating! And upset that she is in the hospital. She kept trying to get up yesterday and we were saying, "Are you KIDDING me? Seriously?" She is extremely weak and we still don't know how much longer she'll be in ICU and then a regular hospital room after that. It's really hard to understand her, as she can hardly talk at all and can only whisper through the breathing mask. I told her that Beck and Ainsley love her (and want to trade houses with her, as Beck said, because ours is not as "cool"). She whispered, "Bring them. Bring them." Life is good and our family has been blessed immensely. Thanks again, everyone!

Loves,
Jennifer
