Dance For Darfur! Please Post This on Your Blog!

In March of 2008 my history class learned of Darfur and about how real genocide is today. The highest majority of young people had no clue that this was even going on and they were genuinely horrified. They wanted to help. They asked the question, “Mr. Adams what can we really do?” I instantly thought of the Save Darfur Coalition and the “Tents of Hope” projects. The students immediately began to collect money to buy a large canvas tent so that one, maybe two, maybe three families living as refugees in the Sudan will have a home.

The “Tents of Hope” is one that is designed to raise awareness in a very symbolic and moving way. Several news organizations helped us promote the event and the Desert News wrote a front page on the Utah Section piece. www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695269782,00.html

We still have the tent. Early in November, the "Tents of Hope Coalition" will gather together at the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. We desperately want to attend this event and bring out tent to display.

We invite you to attend a charity dance concert, “Dance for Darfur.” Students at Cyprus High, Granger High and Kearns High have all united forces to present a fun filled evening with a deeply profound message. The concert dates are
September 29, 2008 at Granger High at 7:00 PM,
September 30, 2008 at Cyprus High at 7:00 PM and at
Kearns High on October 1, 2008 at 7:00 PM.

All proceeds and donations go to sending students from Cyprus, Granger and Kearns to Washington. Remember “students bring the world peace.”

There are so many ways that YOU can help. Copy and paste this information onto your own blog. Ask anyone who reads this to do the same. Even if you don't live in the Utah area, these students want raise awareness about Darfur.

Come to our concerts to see these students sing and dance their hearts out for a cause that they believe in. Tickets are 5 dollars and will be sold at the door, or you can pre-order tickets at
(801) 298-1811. Support our students and our cause.

With Hope,
Josh Adams

The Great Indoors

Here are finally some pictures of the inside of our house. We love it. It is just starting to feel like home! We still have lots of unpacking to do, but we will get there eventually.
Here is what you see when you come in the front door:

"Humor is mankind's greatest blessing." - Mark Twain

Mikayla and I were playing with her hand puppets yesterday. She had a horse on her hand and I had a cow on my.
So, my cow said to her horse, "My name is Herb. What's your name?"
Her horse said, "Zebra."
My cow said, "Zebra? But you are a horse."
And her horse said, "Yeah, my parents were a little bit dumb."

HOW???? Tales from the Amazing and Weird Gwenyth

Gwenyth has the ability to do things that have no explanation. She can get herself into some very precarious positions and then find a way to get herself out again. She can do amazing things and Josh and I just look at each other and say, "How did she do that?" So the other night, we put her to bed in her pink sweatpants and a little T-shirt with bare feet because its still summer and pretty hot at night. So, the next morning, I heard her playing and singing in her crib and I sneaked into her room to get her. She had her shoes on. She can't get out of her crib and even if she could, how and why would she get back in. They were even on the right feet. Maybe Josh likes to play mean tricks on me that cause me to question my sanity.

HSM3 Widget

I know, its totally nerdy to have a countdown to High School Musical 3, and though I was not born in 1993, I am not ashamed to admit that I'm excited. Mikayla and I have a date to go see it together. Think whatever you want!

Awesome Fruit Trees!

Our new house has some great fruit trees in the yard. We have a plum tree and a peach tree. Mikayla had a great time picking the fruit and Gweny had a great time eating the fruit

Mikayla was delighted to learn that ladybugs live in peach trees. She loved finding the ladybugs. They were everywhere!

New House and New Crocs

Here is a not-so-great picture of our new house! We love it and are working on moving our things in. I'm totally embarrassed about the Christmas lights that are up, but they didn't take them down before they moved out and Josh won't take them down because he says he will just have to put them up in a few months.
The girls got new Crocs. They have finally figured out how to make Crocs cute. The girls love to wear them.

"To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love..." - Pride and Prejudice

Mikayla participated in a Princess Dance Camp at a local dance studio this past week. She had so much fun. She practiced at home for us a few times and loved showing off her dance clothes and fancy hair-dos.

She even taught Gweny some new moves. Gweny wasn't sure at first, but caught on at the end. (Sorry Jennifer, I'm stealing your idea here.)

Mikayla: "Let me show you how to dance, Gweny"
Gweny: "Whoa, whoa, what do you think you're doing?"

Mikayla: "I'm just trying to show you."

Gweny: "Hands off, Lady! No touchy touchy!"

Mikayla: "Fine, then just do this."

Gweny: "Ok, that's all you had to say. I can do it myself! You dont EVER have to touch me."

And this is what it would look like if Gweny were a giant...just in case you were wondering.

Then, on the final day of the dance camp, we got to go see them perform a few little dances for us. They got to dress up in their princess finest and show off what they had learned all week. I'm posting a ton of pictures of this epic event. I'm sure I was the only mom who cried with pride through the whole thing.

and a little curtsy to say..."The End"
